Statistics and analytical analysis is the new insight towards advancing knowledge. Plenty of data has been applied in the past, but this new approach is quite different from the normal. I checked out a site on Market watch where I learned about linear regression and other forms of statistical analysis.
Next I looked into statistics in sports, this is more of my field so I had some interest spike after reading a couple of articles. One main article talked about 3 point percentages in basketball. And how the corner 3 point shot is actually becoming more valuable in the game of basketball, because its a higher percentage shot than the mid-range pull up jumper. Next article I read was about a player playing for the Miami Heat by the last name of White-side. His numbers during his time in the N.B.A are staggering, catching everyone off guard. No one knew his name a couple of months ago, now everyone is talking about all the rebounds he's been able to get.
The article describes how if you were to check his C.P.R College Prospect Rating. His numbers were actually staggering, and he really shouldn't have taken anyone by surprise. His CPR which in basketball is his statistical analysis combined from his best games in college were a 14.6. The only players playing in the N.B.A who had this type of number were Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis and Carmelo Anthony. The number 14.6 is so rare, that its almost surprising no one had previously picked up on it. http://www.basketballanalyticsbook.com/ That's the website, if you are interested.
Statistics is definitely the new phenomenon, its worth learning and checking out.
I definitely learned some valuable information reading these different articles and journals.
